Earn identity titles for your morning routine

Rise has 46 titles you unlock by doing the routine, from Beginner to Title Master. Pick one and it appears in your Home greeting: "Good morning, Routinist."

What identity titles do

Titles are badges for who your mornings are making you. Finish sessions, hold a streak, start early or run long, and Rise unlocks a title for it. You wear one at a time, and it shows in the greeting at the top of Home and on your share card.

Apple's Clock app covers a plain alarm, and Apple's guide shows how to set and change one. Rise adds a layer on top: a name for the habit you are building, earned from what you did after the alarm. The idea behind identity-based habits is that an action is easier to keep up when you see yourself as the person who does it. The evidence is early: in one study, asking people about being "a voter" rather than about voting raised turnout. A title gives that self-image a word.

How it works in the app

  1. Finish a focus session. Your first completed session unlocks Beginner, and Rise sets it as your active title if you have none.
  2. Keep going. When a new title unlocks, a Title unlocked toast slides in at the top with a short confetti fall. Tap it to dismiss it early.
  3. With Rise Pro, tap the streak card at the bottom of Home to open Progress, then tap the Title row. It shows your active title and a count such as "17 / 46 unlocked."
  4. On the Titles screen, tap an earned title. The row changes to Active with a checkmark, and the next greeting on Home carries it.
  5. To change what you wear, tap a different earned title. Tapping the active row clears it, but Rise puts Beginner back after your next finished session.

Titles are worked out from your session history each time Rise checks, so a title you qualify for is never lost. Titles you already qualify for appear as soon as the app checks, and they also unlock after a Wind Down or a share. The greeting prefix follows the time of day: morning, afternoon, evening or night. After a session it changes to a line such as "Morning complete, Routinist."

Every title and option

The Titles screen groups all 46 titles into 13 categories. Each row says how to earn it. Unearned rows are dimmed.

On pricing: Beginner is free for everyone. Every other title needs Rise Pro to wear. Free users wear Beginner in the greeting, and new titles still unlock in the background, so they are ready the day you go Pro. In the Titles list, a lock and PRO badge mark titles you cannot wear yet. If Pro lapses, earned titles stay earned and keep an Earned pill, but you cannot wear a Pro title in the greeting until you resubscribe. More on streak titles in streak tracking.

When titles help

You want a reason to open the app on day 12

Streaks are abstract on a flat Tuesday. Anchored at 14 days and Routinist at 30 give you named goals a few mornings away.

You are trying to wake earlier

The Early Wake ladder steps down one hour at a time, so "start by 8 AM" can be your first target and Early Bird your next. Pair it with how to wake up early.

You slipped and want to come back

Resilient, Resurgent and Phoenix reward recovery, not a perfect run. Building a 7-day streak again after losing one counts.

You like to collect things

The Collector and Title Master titles turn the full list into a long game, and with Pro the unlock count on Progress shows how far you are.

You share your progress

Your active title prints as a small capsule on the share card, so a post says more than a day count.

What titles do not do

For a plan to make the habit last, read how to build a morning routine that sticks. Rise needs iOS 26.2 or later and works on iOS 27.2, the current version.

Frequently asked questions

What is an identity-based habit app?

It ties a habit to who you are, not only what you do. In Rise, each title names the person your mornings are shaping, such as Routinist after a 30-day streak, and you wear it in your greeting.

How do I become an Early Bird in Rise?

Start a focus session at 6 AM or earlier. Rise checks the hour your session began and uses your earliest start on record. Dawn Patrol (5 AM) and Pre-Dawn (4 AM) follow.

Are the titles free?

Beginner is free. The other 45 titles need Rise Pro to wear in your greeting. Titles still unlock without Pro, and earned titles stay on your list if Pro lapses.

Can I wear more than one title?

No. You can unlock all of them but only one is active at a time. Tap another earned title to swap.

Is there a morning routine reward chart in Rise?

With Rise Pro, the calendar on Progress fills in each day you finish a session, and titles mark the milestones. Together they work like a reward chart that builds itself. There is nothing to print.
